Snow Day #1

Looks like it snowed last night! There isn’t much out there; maybe an inch or so. The kids are home today due to the cold and wind chill. They don’t get to play outside at all though and are jealous of Meg getting to go out and play. It’s her first snow afterall, how could I tell her she couldn’t…not to mention that’s where she does her business.

She didn’t know what to think of the snow at first, but it didn’t take her long to start hopping and biting at it. At least it isn’t my arms, feet, legs, chairs, beds, toys, stuffed animals, pillows, etc. like everything else. She can bite snow all she wants!

From the looks of it, she has no problem with that!

She had a great time out there! Now, to give her a bath (she’s getting stinky) and some movies with the kids. Great way to start the beginning of our weekend as the kids are out of school Friday and Monday.

Have a great weekend if we don’t “talk” before then.

Bringing in the New Year!

I’ve never been a big party person. I like the occasional outing with drinks included, but as with most holidays I prefer things to be low key.

Punkin on the other hand had a birthday party/slumber party she just had to attend and Bingo tried his hardest to stay awake to no avail. So that left Sunshine as the only person in the house under the age of 30 that was awake and ready to party!

The three of us, and our pup, Meg played “Sorry!” while watching Coldplay on Austin City Limits. It was nice and relaxing…well except the very competitive game we were playing.

Have I mentioned that Sunshine lost her bottom two teeth the week of Christmas? Yep! They had been loose for a while, but a small bump from her brother’s noggin’ got things rolling. She said she felt it come out and proudly showed off her bloody mouth. She wasn’t scared at all, which surprised me because any little cut or scrape demands multiple kisses and doctoring.

Within three minutes the other tooth was yanked out by Sunshine. She was ready to be rid of that one too! So the Tooth Fairy got to visit her for the first time and collect TWO teeth at once! Sunshine was pretty darn excited!

Introducing the newest member of our family…Meg! Or Lady Megan if she is being naughty.

I do have to warn you that the cuteness is a bit overwhelming so feel free to take a break between photos.

Sunshine enjoyed her motherly duty of pushing Meg around at Petco. We stopped there on our way home and I’m sure we will be heading back again soon for more toys.

Yes, we are ALL excited to have Meg in the family!

December Update

Goodness gracious, I can’t believe I’ve let this blog go into hibernation. I guess I need to step it up a notch now that it’s cold outside. There’s bound to be a person or two that periodically still check this lifeless place. Ya think?

Well if there is anyone out there, I’ll try a little (okay a LOT harder) at updating here. I get a bit overwhelmed when I start thinking about all the work that goes into making a post, publishing it, etc. Then my shame kicks in and before I know it, I’ve talked myself out of writing because I’ve already let everyone down with the lack of updates lately. But, enough of that! It doesn’t matter if I post every single day or once every other month. It is MY blog and I guess I can do as I wish. Something is better than nothing, right?!

Well, Bingo was Yoda, Punkin was a vampire (couldn’t smile due to the fake teeth) and Sunshine was Cinderella. Fun fact, the dress Sunshine was wearing was also the dress my Mom wore as a little girl. I believe her mom made it. Not giving away my mom’s age, but the dress is really, really old. So my mom and Sunshine were the exact same height at the age of five. Sorry Schmoopie, but it looks like at least one of our offspring will take after my side of the family in regards to height.

We bought a new-to-us van. I caved and agreed to another mini-van after I had my break from the “mom mobile” and drove a small VW wagon. I hate to admit it, but Schmoopie was right. It really is a better vehicle for the family. Sigh. I do love it after all

Schmoopie and I were invited to attend a Gala for Kids With Courage and got all dressed up for the wonderful event.

Bingo got new Toy Story boots and they light up!!! He loves them.

The husband brought home a deer this season and it was my first time to “take care of it”. I made my mom come over and help me while GC admired from the sidelines.

I’m sure we have done a lot more over the last several months, but those are the things I had photos of.

Congrats Punkin!

Punkin’s first season of playing soccer has come to an end. They all worked so hard and were such good sports. Punkin came so far in her abilities this season. From never playing and being timid to actually getting out there and dribbling the ball down the field, she made this Momma super proud. She is a lot like me when it comes to sports. She isn’t necessarily in it to win, although that is always a nice ending. But I think more importantly to her is the camaraderie that comes with being on a team.

Last weekend, Uncle Rob, Aunt Ashley and Lucy came to visit and Uncle Rob got some great photos of Punkin being the goalie. Thank you Rob!!

The last day of the soccer season ended with Punkin’s team getting 3rd place! It was her first medal and she couldn’t be more proud! Go Quakes!!

Sweet Day

For years I have hoped, wished and nearly cried that this day would come. I didn’t know if it ever would. You see, Punkin has not been a huge fan of reading. She has found it more difficult than math, spelling, or really any other subject. But, as of yesterday I think we can finally assume that she has a new love. This does this momma’s heart good, since I love to read too.

Punkin stayed up past her normal bedtime last night so that she could finish her book. A book that she giggled to herself throughout. Made me want to cry. No, seriously, it did.

Here are the girls’ school pictures from this year. I can’t believe how much they have changed in a year. My little girls are growing up so incredibly fast, that I can hardly stand it. I know there is much fun in store for our future as they grow older and we can do more things…but it is still sad to me that we are past the little girl stage. I mean, we still have a few more years of them wanting to hang out with us instead of heading to the school parties, going to the movies with friends, etc. but it is approaching way too fast for me.
